Men's Shooting Waistcoats & Shooting Vests
We have a comprehensive range of men’s shooting waistcoats at Alan Paine whether you need one for shooting, beating or gamekeeping. Not only practical, they provide warmth and protection but our shooting vests will have you looking the part out on the field.
A shooting waistcoat or shooting vest is a year-round staple that can be layered underneath a shooting jacket during cold months, or just simply over a shirt in the summer.
Which Shooting Waistcoat Is The Most Lightweight?
Our Axford lightweight shooting waistcoat for men is part of our lightweight technical range that we introduced in 2020. It is made with a durable cotton twill with faux suede shoulder patches.
This shooting waistcoat makes an ideal choice for a warmer day as it is lightweight but can also be a great layer if it is cold. Being fully waterproof and machine washable, this lightweight shooting waistcoat is a functional garment. The Axford shooting waistcoat comes in two colours 'basil & new season colour 'glen'.
Combrook Vs Rutland Shooting Waistcoats
Our Combrook shooting waistcoats are an Alan Paine staple and part of our best-selling range. All are expertly crafted with 100% wool tweed. With soft suede shoulder patches, a water repellent outer and in 4 classic colourways these are a stylish & functional must have.
Our Rutland shooting waistcoats are ideal for a beater or gamekeeper and do not come with shoulder patches. These are made with a more durable tweed and comes with cartridge pockets, handwarmer pockets and internal pockets. Storage will never be an issue here.
What To Wear With A Men's Shooting Waistcoat
A shooting gilet is part of traditional style for an organised shoot. A shooting waistcoat should be paired with matching men's shooting breeks with a country style shirt, tie, and a pair of reliable boots & socks which can be worn on a warmer day game shooting, or whilst clay pigeon shooting.
The majority of game shooting will take part during the winter months where it will be essential to layer a men's shooting waistcoat under a durable men's shooting jacket. For those extra cold days, we recommend layering a men's shooting jumper underneath the waistcoat too. To finish off the look, at a matching shooting cap that will protect your eyes from the rain.
Find The Perfect Fitting Men's Shooting Waistcoat
All our men’s shooting waistcoats come within two fits:
1. Shooting Fit - Building into gilets 10" to 11" from actual chest size allowing movement & layering.
2. Regular Fit- Building into gilets 5" to 6" from actual chest size allowing layering.

Excellent value for money!
Another classic by Alan Paine! I’m convinced that this shirt will beautifully complement the Bordeaux merino cardigan I purchased for my partner for Christmas. 🎄
Diversity of nice colors, comfortable lamb’s wool. Exact numerical sizing for best fit—something most, if not all, Alain Paine’s competitors lack, even with higher priced merchandise.
Once again Alan Paine sweaters are a cut above all others. I have collected them in various Shetland and lambswool versions and colors for over 45 years. They are still going strong. I finally had to replace my navy lambswool jumper as I lent mine to a friend and they decided they liked it enough to ask me if they could keep it. The new sweater is as great as all others I own and of course looks perfect with casual and dress casual. Excellent fabric, beautifully made and exceptional fit. What more do I need???
I was going on a first-time British style pheasant hunt and needed to dress the part.
I called Alan Paine and talked to a sales rep who explained everything I needed, talked about sizes, weather etc. then I was e mailed links to all of the various items. I placed my order, and about 4 to 5 days later, everything was received in California. exactly as I ordered it. When I went on my pheasant hunt, the weather was quite severe, including snow, and I was very warm and comfortable. I ordered the complete Combrook ensemble. Highly recommend the clothing and the customer service was top notch.
The deep navy is actually deep teal with a dash of navy. Lovely fabric and construction, very thick and warm, but there are horribly scratchy zippers on the pockets which are not a pleasant sensation on the hands and fingers when sliding them through. I plan to have them taken out for more flexibility and comfort.
I'm very pleased with the Calsall Men's Jacket I purchased from Alan Paine! The quality of the jacket is fine and the price is as great value. Service to the US was exceptional!
I have been wearing your sweaters for over 50 years and only discovered that I can buy them direct in the last few years. It is impossible to find full fashion sweaters in the U S other than your high quality products. I now have about 20 and love them all!
